

	Sarah & Mick offer a warm welcome to you and your family. We are a small, traditional family run pub serving home cooked food and fine Real Ales.

Food

Our food, which is all very traditional pub fare, is something we are very proud of. We are not al-a–carte nor do we do anything over fancy but what you will find is very good home cooked food, very reasonably priced and very good sized portions.

We have a good choice ranging from homemade Burgers & Pies & homemade Curry, to Pasta with homemade Sauce, vegetarian options including Lasagne & Risotto and fresh fish in our own beer batter and Local Steaks & Lamb Shanks - prices range from around £5.95 to £14.00 for a 12-14oz Sirloin Steak, with all Children's meals at £5.10 (for really little ones we usually arrange a much smaller charge) and a selection of desserts including homemade Cheesecake & Ice Creams. The menu does vary from time to time so please call if you want to check what's on.

Wherever possible we try to source all of our produce locally, in particular our meat which comes from our fabulous local butcher "Bagshaw's of Butterton" where we know the meat is all from local farms. Sarah shops daily for produce and from each pepper & onion to the fish and meat Sarah handpicks everything herself, none of our food is fast food that's just microwaved. Sarah cooks most menu items freshly each day and some dishes specifically as and when ordered, this sometimes means waiting that extra 10 minutes for your meal to be cooked, however we feel it is very much worth the wait and we are certainly growing in our reputation for very good home cooked fresh food.

Our Kitchen is tiny and can only fit two people at any one time, as such Sarah's assistants Vanessa & Alison have been fully trained in Sarah's cooking methods and recipes and as very trusted assistants either one will be on hand assisting Sarah with all kitchen duties, from cooking and serving to the washing up. Our most recent Health & Hygiene inspection gave us 4 out of 5 stars (only missing the 5th due to a piece of broken wood in the bar area, now repaired!!) and gave us a report of "Excellent Standards of Heath, Hygiene, Cooking Methods and Record Keeping," and this can be seen / substantiated on the relevant Health & Hygiene Websites.

Because we are such a small pub we often run out of dining tables quickly and it is therefore always advisable to call us and book for a meal. Because of many dishes being cooked from scratch, for larger groups over 8 persons, it is always helpful if we can forward you a menu to pre-order your meals to ensure we can obtain sufficient fresh produce & prepare dishes in advance of your arrival, and of course ensure tables are reserved for your group, however it's not essential.
